The more interesting part to me is how you mentioned his death animation. The demon could be the Imp Emperor (Imperor?), but the fact that this demon actually did slay Providence and his Wurms plus the fact that it fell from the sky leads me to believe it’s the ROR1 survivor. And Heretic heard Mithrix's Calls slowly leaking through the teleporter, starts building the disstress Beacon from scraps of the Ship of RoR1 so she can leave yada yada yada The planet was left alone without its protector. So he prevents you from leaving but you somehow kill him and get away more Mashine that man(or all the other texts at the end.) Knowing that if you leave there will soon be more people coming to ravage the planet for its resources. The story from RoR1 is about you killing your way through Petrichor V to get to the ship so you can leave the planet again, slaying Providence, the grand collector, on your way because he wouldnt just leave you because he, as seen in the Intro cinematic of RoR1, was the one making you chrashland because you and your crew had found Petrichor V and wanted to share its Value of Resources to the rest of the universe. This is what I believe elevates risk of rain 1 from a fun rogue-like to a CHEF KISS of a game and bringing back providence would undo all of it.īy reviving Providence they would completly undo anything that was big thing about the first game. Using weapons to bleed, shock, stun, fear and make literal ghosts out of our enemies. We traded or humanity away letting fungi and needles pierce our skin. "And so he left, never to become human again"-mercenary "And so he left, more steel and circuit than man"-engineer "And so she left, her soul never left the planet"-huntress "And so he left, with everything but his humanity"- commando. In a way the survivors and providence both have their hands tied, the survivors need to leave the planet and providence can't let that happen "I don't know his purpose or his reasoning, but he did not give me a choice." And so we kill providence, the act that the whole game has been building up to and when we finally relaunch the contact light we can get these messages. risk of rain 1 is all about our characters loosing their humanity killing hundreds of living beings because bad circumstances forced them to, providence was forced to destroy the contact light to prevent it's teleporters from falling into the wrong hands (mithrix) so that the people of the planet wouldn't have to suffer, it's why he has the title of "bulwark of the weak" because he is the only thing stopping mithrix's return. Why did we have a teleporter from this planet in our cargo hold?" his logbook entry from risk of rain 1īesides the obvious fact the survivor's themselves confirmed the fact providence was dead It also shows that they at-least feel some form of quilt from doing it. so why do I feel like I made a terrible mistake? Is he able to command everyone on this planet? I don't know his purpose, or his reasoning, but he did not give me a choice. He must command great power, for he seemed to easily control two great gilded worms of a species similar to the Magma Worm. Providence, as I came to call him, moved faster and with more purpose than anything else I've seen on this planet. he was the one who blew the cargo hatches open. "I recognized him from the security footage. This is the equivalent of asking for ned to become the hob-goblin. ![]() Personally I want both Mithrix and Providence to return, even for no other reason than I want to see them interact after everything that has happened. Since its a tale spread by the inhabitants of Petrichor V it's possible that Providence is not truly slain, just believed to be slain.įor the record I believe when the developers wrote that line they were confirming that Providence was dead, but it's something they could easily change their mind on. Only two arms, two legs - but with 22 unblinking, crimson eyes. Fear travels between the trees and the valleys.Ī demon, fallen from the Sky, mighty enough to slay Providence and his Wurms. Hushed tales that frighten the most commanding of stone constructs and woodfolk and creatures of the plains. Stories that keep the more fearful lizardfolk in their passageways. Gossip spreads quickly in terrified communities. Providence sort of has a weird death animation in Risk of Rain 1, and the biggest piece of evidence for his death can be easily explained away. ![]() Do you want Providence to be alive or dead? What if he just returns in some other form, such as a construct?
